On Monday, Weeks Marine Inc. began pumping the first grains of a $6 million beach restoration project expected to bring 265,000 cubic yards onto 4.1 miles of Patrick Air Force Base’s beach, enough to fill about 15,590 dump trucks. The company’s two dredges will pump sand around the clock for the next two weeks, then move on to Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral, building upward of 600 feet of beach a day roughly 75 feet wide and 10 feet high.
