Govt urged to spend $100 million to tighten port security

The Federal Government is under pressure to spend an extra $100 million on securing Australia’s ports. A new report released today by the Australian Strategic Policy Institute also calls for a specialised police force to patrol ports and greater security checks on foreign crews. The study on the terrorist threat to maritime security is critical of the lack of coordination between the States and the Federal Government.
