Amels, a division of the Damen Shipyards Group, announces completion of the transfer of administrative and technical personnel from Makkum to its larger facilities in Vlissingen, in the southwest of Holland.

Effective immediately, all Amels activities-including sales and marketing, naval architecture, design, and engineering-will be concentrated only in Vlissingen.

The Makkum operation will be shut down by the summer of 2005.

The Amels facility is the former Royal Schelde Shipyard, which over 125 years has built hundreds of commercial and naval ships. It was taken over by Amels in 2000, and has already built an important number of Superyachts including the award-winning yacht SOLEMAR.
