Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), the world’s largest shipbuilder, earned a US$10 million bonus for sticking to “three strict conditions” laid down by a customer that had ordered a supertanker from the company. HHI said Thursday it was paid the bonus by U.S. oil giant Exxon Mobil, along with a thank-you letter that read, “Thanks to the superb technical capabilities of the FPSO you delivered in February and your construction capabilities, we are able to begin oil production two and half months ahead of schedule, allowing us to earn better profit.”
