Jobs Coming Back to East Toledo Shipyard

New jobs are coming to an old east Toledo shipyard. News 11 has learned 180 positions will be created this summer when a major barge-building project returns to town. The Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company already repairs ships in east Toledo drydocks. In April of 2004, Manitowoc began building it’s first barge at the Toledo shipyards, but Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur says the company had problems meeting its own construction deadlines. One barge built here, the Hornback, was towed back to a Manitowoc Shipyard in Wisconsin to be finished.
