The DAMEX shipyards, in eastern Santiago de Cuba province, built a catamaran that will be used for passenger transportation in the country. Rio Las Casas, the first boat of its kind built in Cuba using aluminum technology, can carry 237 passengers. The catamaran will be operated by the company Practicos de Cuba and will cover the route between Batabao (Havana) and Gerona (Isla de la Juventud).
