Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. said yesterday it won orders for eight ships worth $880 million, a reflection of the recent upward trend for ship prices. The world’s second-largest shipbuilder is assigned to make four 84,000 cubic-meter very large LPG carriers – two for Exmar N.V. of Belgium and the other two for Maran Gas Maritime Inc. of Greece – plus four large containerships for French CMA-CGM.
