Yachting a booming business for Cape Town

Cape Town is fast becoming the new host port ‘hotspot’ attracting some of the most gruelling and intensely competed yacht races in the world. The spin offs of this phenomenon are vast, not only from a tourism perspective but also from an industry perspective. Events such as the Global Challenge, currently taking place, and the Volvo Ocean Race, to take place in December 2005, attract large numbers of visitors, in the form of crew members and their families, as well as the general public, who follow the race.
