Seafarer’s House at Port Everglades recently honored Nicola Arena at its 2005 International Golden Compass Award Dinner at the Design Center of the Americas in Dania Beach. The event attracted more than 500 people and raised more than $175,000. Proceeds went to Seafarer’s, which provides assistance and services to maritime and cargo ship workers. The Golden Compass award recognizes individuals of distinction in the maritime industry through vocation or ministry.
