More doubts emerge over dredging plans

A business consultant and Labor Party member is the latest person to cast doubt on the Victorian Government’s arguments for deepening Melbourne’s shipping channels. Peter Fitzgerald says only 5 per cent of the world’s shipping fleet will require the deeper channels in Port Phillip Bay. The Government, business groups and the Port of Melbourne say the dredging project is necessary to ensure large ships can access the port in the future.
