Carnival Corp. is counting on new cruises in the Persian Gulf and China to seed growth for the future, company officials told shareholders at the annual meeting Thursday. The Persian Gulf cruises, set to start next winter, will be offered by Costa Cruises and Aida Cruises, and will be sold primarily to Europeans. The weeklong cruises will operate from Dubai and visit four other ports.
