Phase 1 of Dredging Successfully Completed

Members of the Harbor Management Commission and other city officials on Wednesday celebrated the completion of the first phase of the dredging of Norwalk Harbor but continue to have serious concerns over the remainder of the project. Meeting the requirements for capping dredged material as outlined by the state Department of Environmental Protection, obtaining adequate federal funding and getting the work done before the January 2007 expiration date of the dredging permit from the DEP remain obstacles for the second and final phase of the project.
