A ship carrying a tall crane has made it under the Lewis and Clark bridge on the Columbia River at Longview. Authorities were worried it would be a tight fit. The ship is taking the crane to the Port of Portland.Port spokesman Erik Hedaa (hed-uh) who watched the passage about one o’clock this afternoon says it appeared there was about five feet to spare. He says a crewman on top of the crane could touch the bottom of the bridge as the ship slowly made its way upstream.
