South Korea launched a new patrol boat on Thursday for deployment to Dokdo in the East Sea, maritime police said. The 3,000-ton Taepyeongyang-7 was commissioned at a shipyard in Pusan, the Korea Coast Guard said. Built by Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction Co., the multi-purpose patrol vessel has a maximum speed of 21 knots and is capable of completing a round-trip voyage between South Korea and Hawaii without refueling, according to the coast guard.
