A tug-ship carrying scientists involved in environment studies in connection with the Sethusamudram canal project sank about 40 nautical miles off Kodiakarai coast in Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu in the wee hours of today. However all 18, including the crew, on board the ship, belonging to Dredging Corporation of India, managed to escape, a senior official of the Dredging Corporation of India said tonight.
