VOR: Statue of liberty to starboard

They had little time to check off the landmarks as they went, leaving the Hudson River start line in the shadow of the looming skyscrapers, but after another less than average start by the ABN AMRO ONE, Mike Sanderson and his race leading team were looking to tick off the opposition as they passed them on the way out to Ambrose Light. Right in the heart of the USA’s financial epicentre, both ABN AMRO boats were left stalled on the line. With a wind shift compounded by the sluicing ebb tide which robbed them of their apparent wind, the Juan Kouyoumdjian-designed duo were held almost motionless and with little steerage as Matt Humphries and the team on Brunel broke the line first. They had picked their spot mid-line and simply powered in to it.
