The world’s largest cruise ship, Freedom of the Seas, arrived at its home port of Miami on May 25th, greeted on an overcast morning by hundreds of onlookers, Royal Caribbean employees, and fireboats shooting welcoming sprays of water. The 160,000 ton ship, which ultimately will carry as many as 4,375 passengers, sailed slowly into the Port of Miami channel and put on a show for morning rush-hour traffic on the MacArthur Causeway as it made a graceful pirouette in the turning basin before steaming to its berth.
