Twenty one Indian crew members of a bulk cargo ship carrying iron ore were rescued by the Coast Guard as one died after it hit an oyster rock and started sinking at Karwar port, a senior Coast Guard official said. The ship “MU Ocean Sharaya” with 22 crew members was coming to the port for anchoring when it hit the rock, Rathod, Deputy Commandant of the Coast Guard said. Noticing the sinking cargo ship, the Coast Guard lifted 21 crew members while one jumped to the sea to save himself before the rescue operation began and died, Rathod said.
