A $29 million repair contract with the U.S. Navy will delay some layoffs at the Electric Boat shipyard. The new work delays some of the layoffs scheduled for the second quarter at the shipyard. EB will provide routine maintenance and modernize systems on the USS Miami, a fast-attack submarine. Most of the work will be done between July 17 and Sept. 30 at the Naval Submarine Base in Groton.
