A Labor task force on illegal fishing has called for a fleet of purpose-built vessels to help catch more illegal fishermen in northern Australian waters. In its report being released later today, the group is also expected to call for a national summit on the problem and the expansion of the Indigenous sea ranger program. Chairwoman Anna Burke says the Federal Government will apprehend less than 5 per cent of the poachers this year, despite its expenditure in the budget.
