Baker Hughes Says May Worldwide Rig Count Climbs From Last Year

Baker Hughes Inc. (a provider of wellbore-related products and services to oil and natural gas industry) said the worldwide rig count for May was 2,795, up 310 from the 2,485 counted in May 2005, and up 88 from the 2,707 counted in April 2006. Baker Hughes Inc. (a provider of wellbore-related products and services to oil and natural gas industry) said the worldwide rig count for May was 2,795, up 310 from the 2,485 counted in May 2005, and up 88 from the 2,707 counted in April 2006. Excluding Iran and Sudan, the worldwide rig count for May increased 368 to 2,795 from 2,427 counted in the last year. Worldwide land rig count in May increased to 2,417 from 2,117 counted in the previous year, and from 2,341 counted in the month of April. May offshore rig count rose to 378 from 368 in the year ago month, and 349 in the previous month of April.
