After months of dedicated work and preparations Xinhe Shipyard in Tianjin (China) finally announced the launching of the CSD Kaerius. Special and unique feature was the installation of the approximately 200 ton heavy mega cutter ladder. The launching ceremony took place on Monday the 12th of June 2006. The public was treated to speeches of the yard authorities, Mr. Vandewalle, Director International Division of Jan De Nul Group, and dignitaries. Mrs. Vandewalle who is the godmother of the CSD Kaerius, broke the champagne bottle. The CSD Kaerius was slowly lowered down for her baptism and shortly afterwards well afloat alongside the quay wall. The delivery of the new cutter is foreseen for the third quarter of 2006.
