Gov. Linda Lingle and U.S. Sen. Daniel K. Inouye will attend a blessing this weekend at a Connecticut shipyard for the USS Hawaii, the Navy’s newest and most advanced submarine. The Navy hasn’t picked a home port for the ship, but Lingle and Rear Adm. John Donnelly, deputy commander of the Pacific Fleet, have said the submarine may be based at Pearl Harbor. The Hawaii — the second warship named after the islands — cost $2.6 billion to build.
