On the 15th of June 2006 Dredging And Reclamation Jan De Nul Limited belonging to the Jan De Nul Group has signed the contract for the dredging of the downstream section i.e. 46-84 km of the Calabar River, Cross River, Nigeria. The Client is the Nigerian Port Authority. This major project calls for dredging of the Calabar access channel up to -10 m chart datum. The aim is to accommodate larger vessels to the Port of Calabar, in order to boost economic activity of Calabar Export Processing Free Zone. The contract period has been set out for 65 weeks.
