Mobile-based Austal USA has finished installing four 49-ton engines in the Hawaii Superferry now under construction at its Mobile River shipyard, completing the last key milestone prior to the ship’s expected October launch. “We’re planning on making it,” the project’s technical manager, Doug Thorn, said Wednesday. “We could get a hurricane blow through here and upset the whole apple cart, but right now that’s our intention.”
