Crew unharmed after cargo ship collision

Transport Canada is investigating how a massive cargo ship came to hit a small fishing boat off Newfoundland’s south coast Wednesday. Hedley King, the owner of the fishing vessel Tip Sea, says he is grateful to be alive following a dead-on collision with a 22,000-tonne steel-hulled cargo ship. “I figured, ‘Well, I’m going to go. This is it, this is the time,'” King told CBC News. The Tip Sea was about 75 kilometres southwest of the French islands of St-Pierre-Miquelon when the cargo ship rammed into it. Conditions were foggy at the time.
