GROTON, Conn. — With the crack of a champagne bottle, the newest high-tech nuclear U.S. submarine was christened Saturday. The U.S.S. Hawaii had its ceremonial launching at Electric Boat shipyard in Groton, where the $2.6 billion boat was constructed. Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle broke the traditional bottle of bubbly on the submarine. Several other state, local and federal dignitaries also were on hand.
