SINGAPORE: ExxonMobil has awarded four engineering design contracts for a possible second world-scale steam-cracking complex in Singapore. The complex is to be located at the company’s existing refining and chemical site at Jurong Island. All the four contracts concern the design of different stages of the chemical refining process. One contract was given to Aker Kvaerner to design a polyethylene unit. Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding won a deal to design the steam-cracker’s polypropylene and specialty elastomers units.
