For eight years it hasn’t existed – but yesterday Whangarei’s worst-kept secret was wheeled into the sun for the first time. With the radio mast and navigation equipment now fitted, the 65m superyacht built for reclusive multi-millionaire John Spencer is too big for the giant shed it was built in. Three massive bulldozers heaved it down the slipway yesterday afternoon, as a crowd of proud workers and curious neighbours looked on. The vessel is expected to finally meet the sea today. Whangarei’s Flyghtship Construction built the superyacht in its Fraser St yard.
