Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has permitted the transport ministry to proceed with a project to develop a general port along the Thi Vai River in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.
In a decision signed on Monday, a HCMC-based company will build the Phu My General Port inside Phu My I Industrial Park in Tan Thanh District, where 60,000-DWT vessels can berth.
Saigon Investment, Construction and Trading Co. will start work on the port covering 33.7 hectares some time this year.
