Proposed regulations that would allow ministerial discretion to grant permission to fish in marine sanctuaries, have been labelled unacceptable by New South Wales’ Nature Conservation Council (NCC).

The minister can currently only give special consent to fish in sanctuaries for research, environmental protection, public health, traditional use or public safety purposes.
