B.C. Ferries says it’s still negotiating to buy a ship to replace the Queen of the North, which sank last March off the North B.C. coast with the loss of two lives.
The information is contained in the company’s first quarter financial results, which show net earnings of $14.9 million, down slightly from $14.4 million in the same quarter last year.
The company says the almost $70 million it got in an insurance settlement for the lost ship will be used to buy a replacement vessel, but negotiations on such a ship are continuing.
