A GUANGZHOU-BOUND cargo ship from Shanghai sank in the Taiwan Strait after crashing with another ship early this morning, with six crewmembers still missing, Xinhua news agency said today.
The accident took place on the sea near Dongding Island, on the freight line from Jinmen to Ximen in Fujian Province, around 12am, Xinhua said.
The ship, carrying steel, departed from Shanghai and was heading towards a port in Guangzhou, capital city of Guangdong Province, said an official from the Donghai Rescue Bureau.
