Two Japanese fisherman have been released from Russian custody, after being detained for allegedly fishing in disputed waters. Their boat was discovered earlier this month around islands that both nations claim are part of their territory.
Russian guards opened fire, killing one man. The other three crew members were detained on the island of Kunashir, accused of poaching and illegal entry.
The captain of the boat remains in detention.
