A remote-operated probe on Thursday found a sunken tanker in an upright position with little sign that it is continuing to leak oil that has tainted coastlines in the central Philippines, coast guard officials said.
“It’s still upright, its not overturned … it is only leaning on the starboard side,” Coast Guard chief Vice Adm. Arthur Gosingan told ABS-CBN television from near the oil spill site.
“As of the last report, they have detected a crack on the starboard side of the ship on the midsection, but they have not detected any leakage as of now,” he added.
