Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. announced Aug. 31 that it was further expanding in European and Latin America by purchasing Pullmantur, the largest cruise ship operator in Spain with five cruise ships.
In addition to its cruise ships, Pullmantur also has a tour operation that sells travel packages which include hotels and resorts to customers in Spain and Latin America. It also has three planes that provide flights to its tour destinations.
Pullmantur will be Royal Caribbean’s first wholly-owned European brand. Its larger rival Carnival Corporation, owns the largest cruise lines in Italy, Britain and Germany.
