With the growth of energy and resources transportation fleet and the pushing-forward of From Ship-owning To Ship-controlling strategy, COSCO owned and operated fleet reached 40.1 million deadweights with the total number of 687 vessels on 6 September. It is the second ship fleet exceeding 40 million DWT in the world.

This is a result of continuingly optimizing and expanding fleet in the light of rapid growth of Chinese raw materials and energy import demand in recent years. During the period, a number of larger-size specialized ships were added to COSCO fleet. The latest one delivered to the fleet was a tanker M.V. Lianshenghu, which enhanced COSCO’s number two position in world shipping industry since 2003.
