The owner of the ship on which Romanian authorities believe Syrian businessman Omar Hayssam fled the country and the owners of the merchandise the ship is carrying plan to sue the state for losses incurred after the ship was seized by authorities. The owner of the ship, Iman T., Syrian Mustafa Tartoussi, is under investigation for complicity to acts of terrorism for allegedly helping Hayssam leave Romania. Hayssam is being tried for acts of terror for orchestrating the kidnapping last year of three Romanian journalists in Iraq. He was released from custody for health reasons, but disappeared in June. Authorities believe he ran to Syria on board Tartoussi’s ship.
