Ramunia Holdings said on Sept 14 that it was in talks with European oil and gas drilling firms for orders to build semi-submersible drilling rigs and that it hoped to win an order soon.
A semi-submersible order could range between US$500 million (RM1.83 billion) to around a US$1 billion and would place Ramunia in direct competition with some of the world’s top offshore rig-builders like Keppel Corp and SembCorp Marine in Singapore and Samsung Heavy Industries and Daewoo Shipbuilding in South Korea.
