Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Group, or Vinashin, has obtained the Government’s approval for upgrading the Pha Rung Shipyard in the northern port city of Hai Phong, according to a decision on Monday.
Under the decision signed by deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung, Vinashin will spend take out State credits of VND600bil (US$37.5mil) to scale up the existing shipyard, enabling it to build large ships of up to 70,000DWT. The shipyard will also be able to repair vessels of 16,000DWT.
