The NSW far south coast will this week see strengthened support for industries affected by the Commonwealth’s buyout of the south-east trawl fishery.

Fisheries Minister Senator Eric Abetz, with Federal Member for Eden-Monaro, Gary Nairn, will unveil a package in Eden on Wednesday designed to compensate industries struggling because of the reduced fishing fleet.

Five of the 14 Eden trawlers are to go and the Bermagui fleet of four will be reduced to one.
