From the skies to the high seas. Just like the so-called “near-miss” between a civilian airliner and two Sukhoi-30MKI fighters near Rajkot on September 21, it has now come to light that another disaster in the form of a head-on collision between a warship and a merchant vessel was averted near Mumbai on Monday.
The merchant vessel, MV Kity, was on passage to Colombo when it sustained “a glancing blow” from a guided-missile frigate of the Navy, the 2,800-tonne INS Dunagiri, around 30 nautical miles off Mumbai port on Monday night.
