As part of Defence Industrial Strategy (DIS) which was announced in December 2005, a Surface Ship Support Alliance (SSSA) is being developed to provide sustainable contracting arrangements for surface ship support. The Defence Logics Organisation (DLO) has announced the award of contracts for the first batch of surface ship refits under the SSSA arrangements. DML has been awarded the refit of HMS Cumberland, a Type 22 Broadsword Class Frigate.
