Jacksonville, FL. – The Coast Guard terminated the voyage of a 90-foot commercial fishing vessel two-miles northeast of Ponce de Le Inlet, Fla., at 11:15 a.m. after discovering several safety violations aboard the boat.
A joint boarding was conducted from an FWC boat, which included officers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the National Marine Fisheries Service and the Coast Guard, of the Captain A.B. from Fernandina Beach, Fla. The fishing boat was captained by Andrew David Anderson, 39, of Yulee, Fla.
A Coast Guard boarding team found numerous safety violations, which included inadequate number of fire extinguishers, life rafts past their service date, expired flares, expired signaling lights on lifejackets and the Captain A.B.’s marine sanitation valve was open within three-miles.
