Emirates Shipping Line to launch new service

EMIRATES Shipping Line will launch a new service linking China, South-East Asia and India to the Middle East on November 11 2006. Dubbed Hyper Galex, it will be served by six vessels with a capacity of 3,100 TEUs (20-foot equivalent units) each and a speed of 22.5 knots.

Emirates Shipping Line will provide four out of the six vessels, while SCI and TS Line will provide one ship each.

OOCL and NYK/TSK will be co-loading as slot users.

In a statement issued on Friday, Emirates Shipping Line said the new service will open up the first direct route between Xingang in China and Dammam in Saudi Arabia. It will also provide the first direct service between Cochin and North China.
