Normal two-way traffic resumed Tuesday on a portion of the Mississippi River where a cargo ship struck an anchored vessel, a U.S. Coast Guard spokesman said.
Investigators have conducted interviews and inspected the ships, as they looked into the cause of Monday’s accident, a Coast Guard investigator said.
No injuries were reported in the collision at Kenner Bend, near New Orleans, Coast Guard Petty Officer Second Class Nyx Cangemi said. The anchored ship, an empty Panamanian-flagged freighter named the Torm Anholt, had a gash above the water line of about 6 feet wide and 10- to 12-feet high, he said.
