Coast Guard: Fishing Vessel Capsizes Near Sand Point, Alaska

The Coast Guard is responding to a capsized fishing vessel 60 miles south of Sand Point in the Aleutian Island Chain. The Coast Guard is responding to a capsized fishing vessel 60 miles south of Sand Point in the Aleutian Island Chain. The Coast Guard received a call from the car carrier Overseas Joyce at 9:49 a.m. today, relaying a mayday from the fishing vessel Ocean Challenger.

Three of the four crewmembers of the Ocean Challenger have been recovered after all four crewmembers fell overboard during the capsizing. The three recovered crewmembers were recovered by Coast Guard rescue helicopter. The search continues for the remaining person.
