THE Spit would be turned into a maritime hub under a 20-year industry plan put to the Beattie Government which includes a 400-berth marina and facilities for luxury superyachts.

The plan calls for the relocation of a fishing trawler fleet north, adjacent to the marina.

Developers would pay the Government for a 99-year lease to build an international hotel or condominiums in its place.

Also included in the plan is a commuter ferry terminal, dredging and a commercial retail centre.
