South Korea court reduces sentence of Daewoo founder

The founder and former chief of Daewoo Group, Kim Woo Choong, remains in prison after losing an appeal Friday against a conviction for embezzlement and fraud, but has had his jail sentence reduced. Kim, 69, who was found guilty and sentenced 10 years in May, had his prison term cut to eight-and-a-half years and had the amount he must repay reduced from 21 trillion won (21.32 billion US dollars) to 17.9 trillion won.
