Modern-day pirates must be prosecuted

The high seas thieves illegally pillaging our oceans in the name of commercial fishing lack the charms of the pirate Jack Sparrow as portrayed by Johnny Depp in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. But there are some similarities. Today’s pirates still deal in ill-gotten plunder, for instance. When they’re caught, however, there’s no facing the gallows. Instead, as in the Miami case of Spanish fishing magnate Antonio Vidal Pego, they can lose their businesses.
